Tracey Morgan Gallery is pleased to present Heavy Deeds From The Book of Skulls, an exhibition by Time Wave Ultra, a roving artist duo based in North America.. This is Time Wave Ultra’s first exhibition with the gallery. A reception for the artists will be Friday, May 15, 6-8pm
Their collaborative practice stems from a common ground of unsettlement. Things aren’t quite right now, if they ever have been and who knows if they will be or what that means. Finding commonalities in this unease is beautiful and encouraging. The works in this exhibition were made during an intense trance-like period of remixing, improvising and layering one another’s photographs. This resulted in 94 works that range from assemblages, sculptures, text pieces, books, posters, and other objects. Since that initial period the duo have been remixing and producing works that have been, for purposes of this exhibition, edited for a lack of clarity.
The Duo states: It’s all about the rhythm, the waves, amplifying other dimensions. Sometimes the / is between the individual works, like a run on sentence that just flows right. Look and feel. TIMEWAVEULTRA is a river of photographic based recordings. TIME as rhythm, time as an endless loop; time as a linear index of how we navigate the earth, time as a photographic problem that cannot be solved, time as time as a WAVE of the visible aberrations of consciousness that flow and crash into ULTRA.
